Welcome to our website for the Former Wye College site.

Our Vision for the WYE3 Masterplan
For many years the economic and social vitality of Wye was focused around the presence of Wye College. The redevelopment of the former college site represents a tremendous opportunity to shape Wye for the future.

We have been working with the local community and stakeholders over the past few years to bring forward a new vision for the Former Wye College site. This Masterplan has evolved in the context of the Neighbourhood Plan; click here for information on the masterplan.

What has happened so far?

1. Kempe Centre

The former College Library is now established as the successful Wye School and a new sports hall and extension have recently been completed. This is in addition to playing fields, a multi use games area and car parking provided on the 9 acre site.

2. Main Campus Listed Buildings

Restoration plans have been established in close consultation with Historic England and ABC Conservation Officers. These will remove unsympathetic modern adaptations and fully restore the most historically valuable parts. Public access will be created to the most historically important elements and a new heritage centre situated on the High Street frontage will be made available at a peppercorn rent to preserve the archives and will provide public access.

3. Bexley, Carruthers Houses and the Wolfson Lecture Theatre

Planning permission has now been granted for conversion of the existing historic buildings and the modern Lecture theatre building is to be replaced by a sympathetically designed new house. The portacabin in the carpark will be replaced by 2 mews houses and the existing permitted footpath through the site is to be retained for continued public use.

4. Occupation Road

A number of small businesses continue to operate or have been established south of Occupation Road. WyeBugs have relocated from the North of Occupation Road to unused premises to the south and the former BCP Certia glasshouses are now a thriving operation, producing a range of Organic vegetables.

What’s next?

We are now progressing plans for the residential development of the former ADAS Government Buildings Complex and land off Occupation Road, as proposed in the draft masterplan and as shown on the site location plan below.

Proposals are also ongoing for partial reuse of some of the buildings on Olantigh Road together with a new care home adjoining the main campus Listed Buildings.
